Collaboration with Designer Lucas Nascimento at London Fashion Week

It was a great pleasure to collaborate with knitwear designer Lucas Nascimento on his Spring/Summer 2015 collection. The designs were showcased on the catwalk at Somerset House during London’s Fashion Week.
This season’s show-stealers were a series of printed dresses made in collaboration with celebrated London artist Nina Fowler, whose work interprets and appropriates images of classic Hollywood through drawing and sculpture.

It was Nascimento’s collaboration with artist Nina Fowler that gave the collection its zest. “It was one of my main inspirations. Her work is very complex pencil drawings, and having loved her work for a while, I really wanted to work with her,” Nascimento explained. “We realised her work through the knitted jacquards and the silks”. Seeing it up-close and personal, Fowler’s work on the clothes was knitted, not printed, showing a complexity that Nascimento really worked on for this collection. Down the catwalk, they made a dramatic swoop of blacks and greys.

Press release: Lucas Nascimento’s Press Release Spring/Summer 2015

Lucas Nascimento’s Spring Summer 2015 collection feels like a draft of hot air, which, in its moment of arrival, reveal’s a woman’s nonchalant refinement. Complexity rises in a light aura of an extremely determined yet relaxed woman whose manifold facets are represented in the trace of Lucas Nascimento’s long – term friend, the visual artist Nina Fowler. Their aesthetic goes as far as an imaginary complicity and, for this season, all knitted jacquards are a precise recreation of the artist’s intricate and powerful pencil and chalk drawings.

The knitted jacquards are the result of a blend of silk and highly twisted fine American cotton yarn. The light touch of cotton and its versatility make the material the best choice for assuring Nina Fowler’s canvases remain with their drawing characteristics. A close – up puzzled with its abstract shadows whilst a farther away glimpse will disclose the entire artwork.

You have to move if you want to have it all.
